Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is an essential element in any asset management program because a structured approach provides the best opportunity of getting to core issues rather than ineffectively treating symptoms. Remember too that RCAs are not just limited to equipment failures. The international risk standard, ISO 31010, cites RCA applicability to business processes and safety in addition to equipment failures and near-misses.
