For capital projects, A PMIS also tracks tasks like capital improvement program (CIP) development, prioritization of CIP, funding applications, tracking procurement standards, health and safety monitoring, and managing multiple projects as a program.


A close cousin to a PMIS/PMS is a Construction Management System (CMS). Both help manage projects.
